‘Are you going to Delhi?’ Gujarat Police detain, call and house arrest students, activists before protest

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and several Left-wing organisations have called for a protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Security in the national capital has been tightened, with heavy barricading around Jantar Mantar, a large deployment of Delhi Police and paramilitary forces, and the closure of entry and exit points at metro stations from tonight. Delhi Police requested the closure of 57 stations, and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has since announced that the gates will remain closed from 9 pm until further notice.
