Arc Raiders devs drop "very hot fix" to finally stomp the door and weapon exploits that have been plaguing the game since launch

Arc Raiders.

One of the most irritating problems in Arc Raiders has finally been fixed. Embark Studios just rolled out a patch to sort out that locked door exploit that allowed players to loot rooms they'd otherwise need a keycard for.

The change was flagged in the official Discord, with accompanying patch notes. "Update 1.4.0 is now rolling out on all platforms," Ossen Julia, community lead on Arc Raiders, says. "It may be quite a small one, but the big news is that the gun quick swap exploit has been patched, and we have made a very hot fix for the locked room exploits."

The problem stems from players being able to push themselves through locked doors if they approach them at just the right angle. Once inside, there's a basic switch for opening the door, allowing people to easily exit or welcome in teammates. It's relatively easy to replicate, with clips going around of streamers seeing it in action.

The community has been hoping for a remedy to the glitch for some time now. Some players were requesting a simple ban for anyone doing it, but this is much better since it means nobody has to be barred for taking advantage of an in-game gap in the fence.

The gun swap issue relates to a method by which players could fire the shotgun much faster than intended by switching between it and a quick item. A serious annoyance, especially if you run into a squad doing it, that's been circumvented as well.

The term "very hot fix" indicates there may be a wrinkle or two as this update is massaged into the full game. If you're heading in to do some raiding, be wary of any foibles going on, whether they be related to locked doors and loot or something else in Embark's extraction shooter.

The backbone of Arc Raiders, Scrappy the rooster, is based on a real bird who crashed a dev Zoom meeting and was photoscanned in as something "we'll definitely replace later"
