May arabica coffee (KCK25) Monday closed down -8.70 (-2.32%), and May ICE robusta coffee (RMK25) did not trade with markets closed in London for the Easter Monday holiday.
Arabica coffee prices retreated Monday as a sell-off in the equity market sparked risk-off sentiment in asset markets and undercut commodity prices, including coffee. An increase in current coffee supplies is also negative for coffee prices after ICE-monitored arabica coffee inventories rose to a 5-week high Monday of 801,549 bags, and ICE-monitored robusta coffee inventories rose to a 1-week high of 4,272 lots last Thursday.
