Yesterday, the real reason behind Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz‘s untimely breakup was revealed and it’s a tale as old as time.
A sneaky insider told PEOPLE that the couple broke up last weekend, claiming that: “They haven’t been on the same page and grew apart.”
A hella common excuse, right?
But still, fans were craving to know more about what led to the demise of the celebrity IT couple, who reportedly called it quits a week before announcing it — and the same day that Channing announced he’s starring in a movie with Zoe, go figure.
Another insider is claiming that the pair started to see the cracks in their relationship during the press tour for psychological thriller Blink Twice, in which Zoe has her directorial debut and Channing serves as lead actor. It was how the couple met three whole years ago — although it wasn’t released until earlier this year.
“Ultimately, once the project ended, they realised they were on different pages with what they wanted,” a source close to Channing Tatum told Us Weekly. “It fizzled fast after their press tour wrapped.”
“[Kravitz] and Channing are opposites, but they always bonded over their love for art and film, and that is what held them together,” the insider continued.
Apparently once the tour ended and the pair started thinking about their upcoming nuptials, they realised things weren’t quite right.
“Wedding plans were looming, but neither of them were rushing to the altar,” the source said, adding the process put “a lot of pressure on them” and made them “rethink” the whole thing.
“Zoë is a very independent person,” the insider added, noting that her thoughts on marriage changed after her 2021 divorce from Karl Glusman, whom she married in 2019.
“After her divorce, she expressed that she didn’t necessarily need to get married again,” the source told Us Weekly.
Meanwhile Tatum, who was married to Step Up co-star Jenna Dewan for nearly a decade before their 2018 split, was hesitant to get hitched again, but was definitely ready for a coupled-up lifestyle, according to the source.
The insider told Us Weekly Tatum is a “family man” and “very involved with his daughter,” while Kravitz is more focused on “her career.”
After some serious soul searching, the pair eventually decided “it wasn’t going to work out.”
“They were looking at the long-term bigger picture and realised they may not be a good match,” the source said. “There is still a lot of love between them, and [the split] was amicable.”
Goss guru Deuxmoi also spilled a bunch of tea, including the fact that she’s “shocked” by this news.
She also said she heard something last month about Channing Tatum and didn’t think much of it at the time, but now it’s all making sense. She didn’t specify what this piece of information was, but said it was “something personal”. Hmmmmmm… the plot thickens!
“But I will say, based on DMs and conversations I’ve had with people in the past 24 hours, I believe she’s the one who broke up with him and I believe he was surprised by that split,” she said.
She said it was a “possibility” that they stayed together longer than they should have in order to promote Blink Twice.
“Once the movie came out and promotion and press were over, she maybe re-evaluated her relationship and situation and broke up with him,” she surmised.
She pointed out that neither Zoë nor Channing’s reps have confirmed the news, which leaves the story “open-ended” and means they could be taking a break and might reunite down the track.
However, Deuxmoi said she personally doesn’t believe they’ll get back together, based on what she’s heard. Interesting!
