Apex Legends' Season 22 update, known as Shockwave, is launching on Aug. 6, 2024, and brings a lot of new things for players to take note of.
While the latest patch may not be introducing a new Legend to the lineup, it does add some fresh new content for people to play with. These include mid-match loot refreshing mechanics and gun shields for all LMGs.

The Shockwave update is also giving out some buffs to Controller- and Recon-class Legends. It also introduces a new map and map rotation.
Once the new season goes live, players will get access to some wild new Battle Sense abilities. These will allow you to see enemies' health bars and track enemies at close range.
But that's not all, other new stuff added to Apex Legends include a new feature known as Ammo Awareness. When you run out of ammo, this information is automatically relaid to your teammates and show up in the game's kill feed, according to GameSpot.
This would help in coordination between teammates where others may be inclined to charge into battle without knowing that their group members are not able to support them. Two other additions in the latest update are considered game-changers.
The first, which is seeing an enemy's health bar when shooting, helps you know if an opponent is actually just one shot away from death. The second one is highlighted where enemies will appear red when you have a direct line of sight of them at close range.
The Shockwave Update
On top of these, the new map in Apex Legends is known as E-District and adds more variety to the game's loot pool. Ahead of the Shockwave update's official release, what players know about this map is that it resembles an urban area, said Esports.
Season 22 is also bringing a new mechanic into the mix, Revival, which is a form of Respawn. When you play Trios in this mode, you will respawn as long as one player on your team is still alive. This is a similar mechanic that was seen in Fortnite Reload.
There are also a variety of buffs and nerfs to many weapons in Apex Legends coming with the Season 22 update. Some of the weapons that are affected include LMGs, SMGs, Assault Rifles, and Shotguns.
Lastly, a new Bangalore Heirloom recolor could come alongside the upcoming Recolor-based Collection Event in Apex Legends. It will reportedly feature Legendary rarity skins for Octane, Revenant, Bangalore, and other Legends, according to Sportskeeda.
