Christian evangelist Steven Kang has told Sean Hannity he would rather be tortured in a camp in North Korea or Afghanistan than return to what he calls 'hell', describing an experience he says began at a college party in 1998.
Kang said he was 19 when he smoked a bong containing heroin, cocaine and PCP. He said the episode kept him awake for 10 hours and described the experience in his book, 8 Hours in Hell: A Shocking Firsthand Experience of What Really Awaits in the Afterlife.
Kang spoke on an episode of Hang out with Sean Hannity alongside Bill Wiese and Jim Woodford. All three describe hell as something they experienced.
Kang Says Hell Made Earthly Suffering Seem Bearable
'I'd rather get tortured in a camp in North Korea, Afghanistan, than go back to hell,' Kang told Hannity. 'Anything is better on earth. Any suffering on earth is better than the pain I felt in hell.'
He said the experience felt both spiritual and physical. Kang described tall demons and prison camps, and said he believed he would be sent into one of them. 'And I knew I was next; I was going to go in there. But thank God I didn't go in there,' he said.
Kang's comparison with torture is his own measure of the pain he says he felt. The supplied material does not establish that he was clinically dead.
Bill Wiese Places His Hell Vision in 1998
Bill Wiese said he saw a vision of hell at 3 am on 23 November 1998. He claimed he was pulled from his bed into an out-of-body experience that lasted 23 minutes, until Jesus saved him from what he described as torment.
Wiese wrote about the experience in 23 Minutes in Hell. He told the group that he had spoken to God about his time in hell.
According to Wiese, God told him, 'Many people do not believe hell is real' and 'Even some of my own people do not believe hell exists'. Wiese said the statement surprised him because he had thought all Christians believed in hell.
'The Bible talks all about hell, so that's why the lord had me share this,' Wiese said. As presented, his account is a claimed vision.
Woodford Describes Hell After a Medication Overdose
Jim Woodford, a former pilot from Canada, said his experience followed a pain medication overdose in April 2014. He was 52 and suffering from Guillain-Barré syndrome, described in the supplied account as a rare autoimmune disorder that caused him intense pain.
Woodford said he took four times his prescribed dose while sitting in his truck. Although raised Catholic, he told Hannity he had not considered himself religious or spiritual. Before losing consciousness, he said he asked God to forgive him.
'I raised my right hand and I said, "God forgive me," and I collapsed on the steering wheel,' Woodford recalled.
He described an 11-hour trip to hell. Woodford said he saw light and felt as though his body was catching fire. He said he glimpsed heaven before looking into hell, where he recalled a horrid smell, darkness and a creature he thought stood about 60ft tall.
