Antonio Conte appeared to question his own future at Tottenham once again as he confessed frustration could mount.
The Italian saw his side lose once again on Thursday night, this time at Manchester City. The north Londoners led 2-0 at the half-time, but conceded four unanswered second-half goals as the champions completed an impressive comeback.
Their reverse came just four days after Arsenal completed the double over Tottenham with a routine win. It means, since the return of the Premier League, that Conte has seen his side pick up four points out of a possible 15 - losing three of their last five.
Conte's future continues to hang over the club with the Italian's contract up in the summer. He's made concerning noises around the club's expectations and their investment and admitted he needs to change his mindset if he is to maintain a level head.
He said: "For sure if you tell me about my previous experience with Inter, Chelsea and Juventus, but also with Siena and Bari, yeah these are different situations. When you understand very well what is the situation you realise and then you go into it with more strength, you understand?
"It's logical if my expectations continues to be the same at Juventus and Inter, then maybe could be dangerous because my frustration could be big. Instead I know what is my task in this situation and then I'm working very hard because I want to improve.
Will Tottenham finish in the top four? Have your say in the comments!
"I want to improve the team and the club with my vision, with my idea, with my suggestions. Then for sure we see. I'm totally into the new situation and know that my task is to be part of this process and try to, with a team in transition, to start to become solid and to build a solid foundation and try to build a team ready to fight to win."
Conte has won the league title with three different clubs in England and Italy. He led Chelsea to the top flight in his first year, but currently his remit is getting Tottenham into the top four. He managed to do so last term, but several of their rivals have improved and look to have leapfrogged them.
Defeat to City leaves Tottenham in fifth - five points off Newcastle in fourth having played a game more. Conte himself has attracted criticism for his perceived negative style of play that is failing to get the best out of his standout players. Tottenham's next assignment is a trip to high-flying Fulham on Monday night.
