Antonio Conte provides Dejan Kulusevski injury update and hints at Tottenham tactical setup vs Man United

Antonio Conte has not ruled out Dejan Kulusevski returning from injury for Tottenham’s trip to Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Swedish winger has not played since the end of September due to a hamstring problem that the Spurs coach has previously insisted he will not rush him back from.

“Kulusevski is working,” Conte told reporters on Monday. “We will see, we will see.

“We have to go day by day with him and the medical department are working a lot to try to recover him, but we don't know for the game against United.”

Tottenham has previously reverted to a 3-5-2 formation and, in the absence of Richarlison and possibly Kulusevski, could do so again at Old Trafford.

But Conte has asserted his desire to start with a more attacking 3-4-3 setup, which could feature Ivan Perisic in a more advanced role, or either Lucas Moura or Bryan Gil.

“Lucas Moura can be a possibility, Gil can be a possibility, Perisic in a three like a striker is a possibility,” he added.

“I have another training session to make the best decision. You know we like to play with a 3-4-3 with the three strikers and if we can’t change, I prefer to continue to play with the 3-4-3 otherwise we find a solution.

“I think we have the possibility to continue to play with the 3-4-3.”
