Tottenham have completed the £20.8million (€15m up front and €9m in add-ons) signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus.
Spurs confirmed that the 24-year-old had signed a permanent contract with the club earlier this afternoon, just minutes before his Juventus team-mate Dejan Kulusevski was also announced as a Tottenham player.
A statement from Spurs read: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, subject to international clearance and a work permit. The midfielder has signed a contract with us until 2026."
Bentancur comes in on a day where Tottenham have allowed the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso to leave the club on loan deals to Lyon and Villarreal, respectively.
Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici both believe Bentancur can strengthen Spurs' midfield options and if comparisons in the past are anything to go by, then they may have a point.
Talking about the Uruguayan, Juventus TV via Calciomercato said this a year ago: "Mamma mia … ball and chain is the best in the world. Maybe only (Andres) Iniesta I saw stronger than him."
If Bentancur can play anything like Barcelona and Spain legend Iniesta, then Spurs have got some player on their hands.
What has Bentancur said?
Bentancur was clearly delighted to be announced as a Tottenham player, with the midfielder stating his excitement to play Premier League football.
"Hello everyone, I am Rodrigo Bentancur and I'm very happy to be Spurs' new player," the Uruguayan said upon his arrival at Spurs.
"Very happy with this stage of my life and I will give everything I can for the shirt. My best wishes to everybody."
Bentancur could be in contention to make his Tottenham debut at the weekend, when Spurs host Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round.
