Antonio Colak attracts Rangers exit interest as striker 'scouted'

RANGERS striker Antonio Colak is attracting interest from Werder Bremen, according to a report.

It has previously been claimed the Ibrox club are willing to listen to offers for the 29-year-old forward they signed from PAOK only last summer. Colak made a promising start to his career in Glasgow, scoring seven times in his first nine appearances.

But following the departure of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and the arrival of Michael Beale, Colak has struggled to fit into his new manager’s system. A report in The Sun last month indicated there were both Bundesliga and MLS clubs keeping an eye on the Croatian’s situation.

And now German newspaper BILD say Bremen are considering the Ibrox star as a summer option. It’s said they have previously had Colak scouted.

The reported interest comes amid their current striker Niclas Fullkrug being linked with Bayern Munich and now from the Saudi Pro League.

Sky Sports in Germany say Al-Wehda have tabled a £12m offer for the 29-year-old. He represented Germany at the Qatar World Cup in late 2022 and his stock has risen markedly this season.

Fullkrug’s potential departure could open the door for Colak to leave Rangers, where it appears he is unlikely to feature heavily in Beale’s plans moving forward. He has previous experience in Germany having already turned out for Nuremberg, Ingolstadt and Hoffenheim.

Beale was left down a striker when Alfredo Morelos departed Glasgow upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season, and looks set to pursue further attacking options to complement the arrival of Sam Lammers from Atalanta.
