Anton Ferdinand reveals key change new Everton boss Frank Lampard will implement

Pundit Anton Ferdinand believes Frank Lampard will implement the correct changes in order to turn Everton's fortunes around.

The former Chelsea manager was appointed on Monday following Rafa Benitez's dismissal on January 16.

With the Toffees just four points above the relegation zone, Lampard is tasked with quickly turning around the fortunes of this current struggling Everton side.

Adding key Deadline Day additions too, the 44-year-old has wasted no time in getting to work, with Ferdinand adamant things must change quickly at Goodison Park.

''I went to Everton's last game against Norwich, Rafa Benitez's last game. The feeling amongst the away supporters at Carrow Road really was not good,'' began the former QPR man as he spoke on Sky Sports News.

''Seeing players that didn't want to play for Rafa Benitez and when you are down there in a relegation battle you've got to fight and run hard and players didn't want to do that.

''What was more alarming to me was players hiding from the ball. That's something I know Frank Lampard won't tolerate knowing what kind of midfielder he was. He's got a good set of lads there.''

The former Derby boss' first game is an FA Cup fourth round tie with Brentford, although new signing Donny van de Beek will not feature as he is cup-tied.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has also returned to training in recent weeks and with goals hard to come by for the Toffee's - having only scored 24 all season - it is hoped the Englishman can hit the ground running for his new boss right away.
