An Antiques Road Trip auctioneer took a chance on buying a painting by a Scottish artist after calling on his co-presenter for assistance.
On the penultimate leg of their journey on the BBC One show, Natasha Raskin Sharp and Philip Serrell continued their road trip in East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. On his first stop, Philip spotted a painting of two birds by Scottish artist Ralston Gudgeon, who is best known for his paintings of birds and animals.
Telling the seller he was going to "think about it", Philip picked up the phone to Natasha, who specialises in paintings. She said: "Are you looking at a painting that features ornithological subject matter? I'd have to see it properly, but it's probably worth £80 to £120. Maybe £70 to £90."

After the call Philip said: "Do you know what I really like that. I think I'm going to buy it."
He acquired the painting along with a pair of silver mounted decorative bowls for a total of £95.
Elsewhere, Natasha was taken by a collection of Virginia Woolf books for just £25, which she bought alongside a jam pan.
The pair both made a loss on their first items; Philip lost £34 on his decorative bowls, while a large cow bell Natasha bought lost her £18.
However, Natasha's estimate on the Ralston Gudgeon painting was bang on the money, with bidding on the painting starting at £55.
It eventually sold for £75. She said: "I'm so pleased it's made a profit.
The biggest profits on the day came for Natasha; her collection of Virginia Woolf books, which she bought for just £25, fetched a massive £150.
The jam pan she bought for £8 also sold for £30, while her £48 tea caddy fetched £80.
