My first introduction to the Brazilian clothing brand Farm Rio was when I worked at a boutique back in Charleston, South Carolina. When the boxes came in, there would be a flurry of vibrant tropical prints, saturated pigments, and luxury ready-to-wear dresses. Naturally, it was a hit in the warm South Carolina climate, and the pieces consistently sold out. So, when I heard Anthropologie was teaming up with the fashion label on a homewares collection, I was expecting big things.
An Anthropologie and Farm Rio collaboration is like a holy matrimony of glamorously care-free resort wear and characterful, whimsical design. The brands are a natural pairing, and it left me thinking: could the trend for tropical prints and leafy motifs be about to make a comeback in interiors?
Now, I'm not suggesting we bring back the pink-and-teal palm leaves of 2016, but surely there is a more contemporary way to approach a paradise-inspired interior design trend? And perhaps, this is it. Bold, colorful palettes, plenty of natural materials, fauna, and fruit-inspired motifs, and whimsy in abundance.

If you're a fan of Anthropologie Home, you'll know the brand thrives when it comes to all things table-setting. And yes, this collaboration is no exception. There are dinner plates adorned with iconic Farm Rio prints, serving platters embellished with bananas, and palm-leaf-embroidered tablecloths and napkins — all of which I can imagine both dressed indoors and for garden party soirées.
Everything is designed to bring that sunny, cheerful charm to your home, with hand-drawn or painted banana, parrot, lotus flower, and lemon motifs scattered throughout the collection. I've already got the parrot-adorned outdoor cushion cover in my cart.
It may sound like a lot is going on, but all that characterful art, paired with a poppy spring color palette, is enough to convince me we're about to see a new wave of tropical decor. Layered with woods and other natural materials, your home will feel reminiscent of Brazilian beaches, and what's not to love about that?
These napkins immediately caught my eye. The duo of greens creates a striking pair and brings whimsy to the table while staying pretty subtle. And it comes in a few other pink and yellow colors.
Okay, this is a total piece de resistance for any spring table. Serve up your favorite canapés, then once the dinner party is over, the artwork on this butter-yellow platter is beautiful enough to keep on display!
Not only is this patterned, floral dinner plate fun, but the darker tones make the tropical prints feel a little more grounded. It comes in a couple of other colors — and it would look so good with the blue charger plate layered with smaller dinner plates.
How cute is this banana handle tray? I'd love to see this styled as a catch-all on a patterned ottoman. Is subtle enough to go with everything, but still adds a playful pop for spring and summer.
I mean, need I say anything at all about this fabulously fun banana jug? The design is relatively simple, which makes it easy to style on any table, but the handle adds more fun. You could even pop a few florals in this and style it as a vase for your spring centerpiece.
If you don't want to commit to colorful furniture, the quickest way to add color to your outdoor pieces is by adding a few throw pillows. The prints on these cushions look so expensive, especially with the tassel detailing.
I love a subtly embroidered tablecloth, and the green palm leaves on this design are the perfect balance of refined and playful. Business on the top, party on the bottom.
A good outdoor rug is hard to come by, but it looks like the Anthropologie x Farm Rio collaboration just solved that problem with ease. It's so good you'll want to style it indoors too, and the good news is... You can!
And if you're lucky enough to have a pool in your backyard, I think that these ceramic side tables would be the most iconic addition. Imagine these with a cold beverage next to a white lounger.
See? It's a refreshingly far cry from the 2016 interior design trend we all know (and probably don't love). Not that I expected anything less than fabulous from the sustainable, carefree, and colorful brand that is Farm Rio.
