If I've learned anything from shopping for fall and Halloween decor, it's that the best things sell out fast. This year, I'm looking ahead and getting into the Christmas spirit a little (okay, a lot) early.
Luckily, Anthropologie has got me covered with their Holiday Collection, which recently relaunched for 2024. There's a good mix of whimsical magic meets vintage charm with retro ornaments, handmade ornaments, and − of course – the coveted Anthropologie holiday mugs.
As a shopping writer with an eye for style, I'm always looking to experiment with Christmas decorating ideas. This year, I'm keen to keep it classic, the kind of Christmas you see in the movies, with flickering candles and steaming mugs of hot cocoa. If you're with me, and you want to learn how to decorate tastefully for Christmas, then the Anthropologie Holiday Collection is a great place to start.
2024 Anthropologie Holiday Collection
This year, I have my eye on several Anthropologie holiday home decor pieces, including everything from the Festive Bistro collection and the most adorable Anthropologie holiday candles ever. After scouring all eight pages of the Anthropologie holiday collection, I’m sharing my favorite seasonal picks.
Wreaths and garlands
Anthropologie’s collection of wreaths, garlands, and other botanical-inspired home decor is a must for your Christmas door decor ideas. The brand makes some of the most whimsical and stylish holiday wreaths I’ve ever seen – and the garland is so realistic, it’s worth the splurge.
As you're shopping for wreaths and garlands, double-check whether you're buying 'fresh' or 'faux'. You can repurpose a faux wreath or garland for years to come, while you'll only get a few weeks of use out of a fresh one. Still, I think the look and scent of a fresh wreath is far more Christmassy than a faux one.
This year, Anthropologie Christmas wreaths are on their A-game. This wreath is utterly timeless. The fresh rosemary brings a homely feel and the fragrance is simply unmatched. This wreath would suit almost any room but I think it will look best on your front door.
Handmade from natural vine, this reusable wreath is suitable for indoor or outdoor use. It's striking enough to stand alone, but I love the idea of dressing the reindeer with seasonal greens, baubles, and ribbons for a one-of-a-kind look.
The bursts of blue juniper berries add depth and dimension to the deep green fir. To keep this garland looking fresh for longer, mist regularly and keep away from heat. I recommend you wind it through the banisters rather than setting it above your fireplace.
Table decor
Ahead of the busy dinner party season, I like to stock up on serveware to bring my Christmas table ideas to life. I always look forward to Anthropologie’s Christmas dessert plate collection, which doubles as a festive holiday hostess gift. And, this year, I'm definitely splurging on some festive crackers, too.
This is the sort of subtly seasonal serveware that you could incorporate into your kitchen year-round. Delicately decorated yet durably constructed, this platter is microwave- and dishwasher-safe for quick and convenient cleaning after Christmas dinner.
My family loves to kick off a holiday meal with Christmas crackers, and these Evergreen Tree Crackers are a work of art. The pinata-inspired crackers each come with a festive glitter star brooch and – of course – a joke and hat. Available in a set of 6, they’re a fun touch to tablescape decor and would add a nice touch to a dinner party with girlfriends.
The Festive Bistro collection is one of my favorite holiday dish designs I’ve seen in a long time. I personally love the pie dishes because they make for an adorable table setting but would also make a gorgeous host gift for a holiday dinner party.
Christmas ornaments
Anthropologie could make my most whimsical and magical Christmas ornament ideas come true. while I usually wait until the Anthropologie holiday sale to purchase individual ornaments, I always try to snag a set or two in the pre-season.
I'm simply obsessed with this year's range of Handmade Felt Bear Ornaments. I'm buying a mix-and-match set and sending some to my family across the country and keeping a few for myself.
These little guys come in bright pink, light purple, and mint green. Follow my lead and shop a mix-and-match set to create a festive scene or choose your favorite and place him pride of place on your tree.
Sweeten your decor with a set of Handpainted Glass Candy Ornaments. These imitation boiled sweets would seamlessly blend with the rest of your baubles. I like the idea of pairing each ornament with an edible candy cane.
I see the appeal of soft white lights but, for me, Christmas isn't Christmas without multicolored lights. Channel the Christmas of yesteryear with these brightly colored bulbs, which work just as well outside as they do indoors.
Festive mugs
Anthropologie mugs are the holiday houseware items I look forward to every year. This year, the brand has an adorable Festive Bistro collection with a matching monogram mug as well as some gorgeous glassware pieces. But, the Anthropology holiday mugs I’m most obsessed with come from the Merry Luster collection – they're made for sipping eggnog by the fire.
This seasonal mug comes with a tree topper lid to keep your hot drinks warmer for longer. The Merry Luster Tree Stoneware Mug just launched, and it's already an Anthropologie best-seller, with 4.9 five-star ratings from 34 reviews.
It’s not the holidays without an Anthro monogram mug. This year’s Festive Bistro collection features this adorable Tile Monogram Mug with 24K gold accents. The mug is also under $20, making it one of the best holiday gifts for friends, co-workers, and teachers.
While I can't imagine sipping from my Merry Luster Tree Stoneware Mug come springtime, I can see myself using this Evergreen Ceramic Mug all year round. It's nice and tall, with a 15-oz. capacity to hold generous servings of hot cocoa.
Holiday candles
If you’re looking for the best holiday gifts for friends and family, you can’t go wrong with Anthropologie holiday candles. I already have my eye on a few (for my loved ones, and myself) from this year’s collection, which includes some of the best holiday candle scents in gorgeous, decorative vessels that can totally be repurposed into home decor.
You're never too old for an Advent calendar. Voluspa are celebrating the 12 days of Christmas with 12 petite pedestal candles in bestselling scents from their Holiday collection.
These tree-shaped tapers would make the perfect finishing touch for your festive centerpiece. Shop a set in bold red or Kelly green or keep it classic in ivory.
This little candle would make a great stocking stuffer. A deep base of dark oud is offset by fragrant fir needles and cracked peppercorn, with notes of worn leather and woodland musk.
Mantel decor
Don't forget about your Christmas mantel decor. Once you've hung the wreath and strung up the garland, it's time to deck out the rest of the mantelpiece. From twinkling string lights that double as ornaments to rustic florals and foliage, there's something for everything in the Anthropologie Holiday Collection.
These little bows are pretty, as well as practical. Each stocking holder is crafted from iron and aluminum for strength, then covered in brass to create a metallic sheen.
I'd like to place a tree either side of my mantelpiece, but you might want to shop a few sets to dot around the house or create a festive woodland scene.
This feels like a grown-up take on the paper snowflake ornaments my siblings and I used to make when we were kids. Shop a set in assorted colors to mix and match on your mantel.
I'm well aware that Christmas is still three months away. Before you start decking the halls, you might want to decorate for Halloween. That's why our style editor, Charlotte, picked out her favorite pieces from the Anthropologie Halloween collection.
