Anthony Edwards signs max contract extension with Timberwolves

Former Georgia Bulldogs basketball star Anthony Edwards has agreed to a maximum contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Anthony Edwards’ contract could be worth up to $260 million over five years.  Edwards will look to make the All-NBA team this season in order to maximize the value of his contract.

Minnesota finished this past season as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. Edwards and company lost to the No. 1 seed and eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards was named as an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career during the 2022-2023 NBA season. Edwards is the first Georgia Bulldog to be named as an All-Star since Dominique Wilkins in 1993-1994.

Anthony Edwards was the No. 1 selection in the 2020 NBA draft. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound guard just finished his third season in the NBA. Last season, Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 4.6 assists per game. Each of these numbers represents a career high for Edwards.

The Timberwolves star is shooting more efficiently. Edwards made a career-high 45.9% of his field goal attempts and 36.9% of his 3-point attempts.
