Amazon MGM Studios has announced the exciting return of Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in A Simple Favor 2, directed by Paul Feig. The sequel, a co-production with Lionsgate, is set to begin shooting this spring and will be available for streaming on Prime Video.
Paul Feig, known for his work on the 2018 dark comedy, is back to direct the follow-up film. The cast includes Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Joshua Satine, Ian Ho, and Kelly McCormack reprising their roles from the original movie. Jessica Sharzer, the writer of the first film, has returned to pen the sequel, with contributions from Feig and Laeta Kalogridis.
A Simple Favor 2 follows Stephanie Smothers (Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Lively) as they travel to the island of Capri for Emily's extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. The plot promises elements of murder and betrayal, adding to the mystery and intrigue of the storyline.
The production of A Simple Favor 2 is in the hands of Feigco Entertainment, with Feig and Laura Fischer as producers and Sharzer as executive producer. The sequel was first announced in 2022, building on the success of the original film released by Lionsgate in September 2018, which grossed $53 million domestically and $97 million worldwide.
Anna Kendrick, who recently starred in Hulu's Self Reliance, is set to make her feature directorial debut with Woman of the Hour on Netflix. Blake Lively, on the other hand, will be seen in the big-screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover's novel It Ends With Us alongside Justin Baldoni, hitting theaters in June.
Feig, who directed The School for Good and Evil for Netflix in 2022, has completed filming the action-comedy Grand Death Lotto starring John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Liu. The talented individuals involved in the project are represented by various agencies, showcasing their continued success in the entertainment industry.
