Angélica Rivera: "I Don't Need A Man to be Beautiful"

In Spanish

Angélica Rivera, the Mexican actress famously known as La Gaviota, has finally broken her silence about her personal life.

Upon arriving at Mexico City's international airport, Rivera responded to questions about her well-being and gave some insight into her future plans.

Rivera, who was greeted by a swarm of reporters alongside her daughter Sofía Castro, spoke candidly about her life. "I have three wonderful daughters. I am blessed," she stated as journalists surrounded her. Sofía, also an actress, is currently in the midst of her wedding preparations. Having already had a civil ceremony, she is now planning the religious ceremony.

Regarding Sofía's civil ceremony, Rivera revealed, "Sofi decided at the last minute. It was a surprise," and confirmed that her ex-husband, José Alberto 'El Güero' Castro, was fully supportive of the decision.

On the subject of her return to television, Rivera confirmed that she is open to new projects. "I want to find that opportunity, but it has to be next year," she said, adding that her current focus is on helping her daughter with wedding preparations. Sofía is set to marry hotelier Pablo Bernot.

Angélica Rivera's Return to Acting

Professionally, Rivera expressed a desire to return to roles centered around love. "That's what I've always done. I was trained in melodrama," she explained. While she didn't confirm any specific projects, rumors suggest she has already started filming a Netflix series in Mexico, though details remain scarce.

Rivera's last appearance on screen was in the popular telenovela "Destilando Amor" in 2007, a production that earned her the nickname La Gaviota. The show is the Mexican version of the Colombian telenovela "Café con Aroma de Mujer" but set in the world of tequila.

Afterward, Rivera stepped away from acting to marry former Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, whom she divorced after his term ended.

Angélica Rivera's Love Life

As is often the case, reporters were eager to know about Rivera's love life. This time, instead of dodging the question, she responded firmly: "I've always given myself a chance at love."

Initially, her comment seemed to refer to romantic love, but she quickly clarified: "The love you have for yourself."

When faced with a sexist comment suggesting she needed a man to stay beautiful, Rivera elegantly shot back: "I don't need a man to keep myself beautiful." With poise, dignity, and empowerment, she continued on her way with her daughter by her side.

The next time we see Rivera, it will likely be at Sofía's religious wedding ceremony—and perhaps afterward, as a character worth watching in her long-awaited return to television.
