Ange Postecoglou to Brighton shut down as Celtic boss 'certainly wouldn't downgrade'

Chris Sutton reckons there's no chance Ange Postecoglou would "downgrade" by heading to a club like Brighton.

Seagulls boss Graham Potter has opened talks over taking the managerial vacancy at Chelsea and the club look odds-on be in the market for a manager in the very near future. Social media speculation has touted Celtic's Postecoglou as a potential successor to Potter at the Amex, with his progressive style attracting more and more admirers across the football spectrum.

But Celtic legend Sutton is convinced Brighton would be of no interest to the Aussie coach at this point in time. He believes Postecoglou has plenty more work to do in Glasgow as he chases a second consecutive Premiership title and takes Celtic into the Champions League. And although he Sutton believes the 57-year-old will eventually be given a chance in the Premier League, he's adamant it won't happen just yet.

Sutton wrote on Twitter " Ange Postecoglou will be linked with managerial jobs in the Premier League and I’m sure will eventually go down south but he’s only just got started at Celtic and he’s building something special. He certainly wouldn’t downgrade to a club Brighton’s size just yet… why would he?"

Earlier on Wednesday, pundit Danny Murphy named Postecoglou as a left-field option for the Chelsea job after Thomas Tuchel's sacking.
