Andy Walker has claimed Rangers fans DON'T want to see Leon King start next season.
The former Celtic striker and pundit believes the Light Blues faithful would rather an experienced and recognised defender to be starting the new campaign and not the youngster when Michael Beale's new-look side take to the field.
The 19-year-old was thrown in the deep-end under Giovanni van Bronckhorst due to an injury crisis at Rangers meaning he was played against the likes of Liverpool and Napoli in the Champions League while picked up vital experience in the Scottish Premiership. Connor Goldson and Ben Davies have been the preferred duo of late but John Souttar is now back fit an impressing. The first choice pair have been ruled out injured in recent weeks allowing King starts against Hibs and Hearts. He didn't do too much wrong in both games.

King put pen to paper on a new long-term deal at Ibrox late last year, a sign that he wants to push on and establish himself as a key man in the heart of the defence in the future. But Walker isn't convinced the supporters will want King starting games next season and reckons they want to club to spend money on new players.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he explained: "I love it when a young player gets an opportunity and you've seen that at Rangers recently with Leon King. I thought he played well at the weekend against Hibs, he was good in patches last night.
"But you speak to Rangers supporters and they don't want him to start next season. They want an experienced, recognised, maybe even an international centre-back.
"And they all love to see Alex Lowry coming on and Adam Devine on the bench and others. But when you talk to Rangers supporters about next season, they don't want to see the Scottish players.
"They want Rangers to spend, spend, spend. It's really tough for Scottish players to get the chances they're getting now at the start of the season when games really matter."
