Andy Murray vs Novak Djokovic: UK start time, Madrid Open live stream, how to watch, TV channel and h2h today

Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic will renew their rivalry today with the first showdown between the pair in over five years, for a place in the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open.

Not since the Qatar Open at the start of 2017 have the pair met on court, but Murray’s impressive run in Spain has earned him a clash against the world number one.

The 34-year-old beat Dominic Thiem, himself looking to find his way back to form after injury problems, in the opening round before backing that up with a hugely impressive win over Denis Shapovalov.

Murray managed just eight games against the Canadian when the two played at Wimbledon last summer.

Now the British star faces the sternest of tests, though Djokovic has had a frustrating year on and off the court so far. He is still looking for his first title of 2022, having recently lost on home soil to Andrey Rublev in the final of the Serbia Open.

Murray has looked comfortable on the Madrid clay so far, but he knows he will have to be at his very best if he is to get the better of his long-time rival.

“In theory, I should have no chance in the match,” Murray said.

“He’s obviously No1 in the world and I’m playing with a metal hip so I shouldn’t have a chance in the match. It’s a great opportunity for me to see where my game’s at and to play against him.”

He added: “I didn’t know if I ever would get that chance so I’ll enjoy it, I’ll have a fantastic attitude in the match, give it my best and see where I’m at.”
