It was the news that so many NFL fans hated hearing: among those employees laid off by the NFL Network earlier in the month was Andrew Siciliano, who did so much, including hosting the original Red Zone channel on DirecTV. He had been there since 2011.
We hadn’t heard publicly from Siciliano after the news broke until on Monday with the 2024 NFL Draft approaching. The host thanked the network and football fans while noting he’ll be seen for NBC and Peacock’s Olympics coverage, which will be great news for those missing him on the NFL Network.
Here’s his heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter):
I got a call in 2011.
Could you host for 2 hours?
It turned into 13 years.
Thank you, @nflnetwork for a great run.
Thank you to every @NFL fan. It’s been an honor.
I can’t wait to write the next chapter.
I’ll see you on @nbcolympics @peacock in July, if not much sooner. pic.twitter.com/CwsljcQLnr
