Andhra Pradesh: 11-year-old girl kidnapped and raped by unknown persons in Visakhapatnam

VISAKHPATNAM: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by unknown persons at the Seethakonda area near Visakha Valley School in the port city Visakhapatnam on Saturday afternoon. The news put the cops on their toes.

After learning about the incidence, city police commissioner Ch. Srikanth himself swung into action and alerted his men. The entire police force of the city had started searching for the accused through CCTV footage of various junctions. The girl was sent to KGH for a medical examination. Cops say that the case seems to be a suspicious one.

A sportswoman noticed the girl crying for help on the Visakha Valley School Road near the school area. She stopped her moped and noticed that the girl had bruises on her leg and face. The girl reportedly narrated the incident of kidnap and rape.

According to the sportswoman, the girl told her that two men kidnapped her and closed her eyes with a cloth. They brought her to this place and one person raped her forcibly. They hit her on the face and left her in the bushes close to the Visakha Valley School area.

The sportswoman took the girl to her residence and family members rushed her to King George Hospital after informing the Arilova Police Station. “She told me that she had come out of her house to buy ice cream in the afternoon. Two persons kidnapped her and brought her to this place and raped her," the sportswoman said.

The City Police Commissioner Ch Srikanth rushed to the KGH and personally enquired about the incident. After a medical examination, KGH doctors reportedly informed the police that no rape had taken place.

"We are investigating whether she was molested by unknown persons. But the different versions of the girl have been creating suspicion. However, we have started an investigation to find out the facts," the city police boss said.

Sources in the police department said that they have noticed through the CCTV footage that the girl was comfortably sitting on the bike of a youth. Now, they started hunting for the youth. Arilova cops are investigating the case.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
