An experimental oral pill for relapsing multiple sclerosis outperformed an established oral drug in two large Phase 3 trials, Novartis announced Tuesday, and the company did not release a single efficacy figure to accompany the claim.
The REMODEL-1 and REMODEL-2 trials tested remibrutinib, a Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor, against teriflunomide in roughly 2,000 adults with relapsing multiple sclerosis. Both trials met their primary endpoint of reducing annualized relapse rate, the company said, and remibrutinib was superior on all key secondary endpoints within each trial, including reduction of MRI lesions.
