Amy Hart credits 'amazing' hypnobirthing technique for getting though four day labour

Amy Hart has explained how she utilised hypnobirthing to help herself stay relaxed while she was in labour for four days.

The 30-year-old former Love Island contestant became a first time mum this past week when she welcomed a son named Samuel with her fiancé Sam Rason.

Amy was in labour for longer than medical experts thought as her contractions were initially dismissed as Braxton hicks.

However, she used a technique known as hypnobirthing - which is when a mother uses relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques to help relax the body before and during labour and birth.

She explained to OK: “It was super quick! It meant I could only have gas and air, but it meant I felt everything and could get up and walk around afterwards

"Hypnobirthing was absolutely amazing - I did four days and 10cm on hypnobirthing and breathing alone. I completely recommend that to everybody - it was amazing!

“I used it in between my contractions as well, so that when I was pushing I used the hypnobreathing to keep my mind focused in between the pushes and then again when I was being stitched up."

Amy had previously announced the arrival of her son via social media - and gave details of the seemingly unexpected birth.

She wrote online: "Well…. 4 days of contractions at home (which everyone told us were Braxton hicks…they weren’t ), 4 very short hours in the delivery suite and 5 long days in hospital later, we are home with our dreamy baby boy born at 3.31am on 3/3/23 weighing 8lbs with the most beautiful head of hair (Amy would take the 9 months of reflux again) and we are so so in love.

"Proper introductions to come but now we’re home safe and sound.

“Thank you to everyone who sent their well wishes."

And later, Amy returned to social media to explain why she had given her son the full name Stanley Samuel Giles Rason.

She typed: “Stanley: We loved the name and also Amy’s Grandad Geoffs middle name

"Samuel: After @samuelrason obviously but also Amys brother is Samuel too!

"Giles: Nanny and Grandads last name, hopefully he’ll inherit their love of shots!”

Amy shared her honeymoon plans before her baby son arrived (Disney Travel/ MEGA)

While Amy and Sam are clearly overjoyed with their new arrival, the Love Island star has claimed she will leave her baby at home when it comes to going on a honeymoon.

She told the Journey to the Magic podcast: “I was supposed to be in Disney World right now, but I fell pregnant. I had a whole two-week trip planned in January.

"But I'm still trying to convince my boyfriend that we need to go on our honeymoon minus the baby because you need to do it as adults before you go back to do all the queuing up for meeting characters, and the little rides.”
