Amputee, 71, told he 'might run Olympic marathons' in blue badge row with council

Nigel Ward, a 71-year-old amputee - (PA)

A 71-year-old amputee has been asked by his local council to prove he still has difficulty walking before his blue badge can be renewed because he might have a “prosthesis that allows him to run Olympic marathons”, according to the disabled man.

Nigel Ward, who lives in King’s Lynn in Norfolk, first received a blue badge after losing his leg three years ago, which happened while he was on a cruise. His initial application went through without difficulty.
