Amir Khan vs Kell Brook weigh-in results as rivals avoid fines for grudge fight

Amir Khan and Kell Brook have both made weight for Saturday’s grudge fight at Manchester’s AO Arena.

Brook had said in the build-up to today’s weigh-in at the Exchange Hall that he may come in over the 149lb catchweight, but scaled 148.3lbs.

Khan, meanwhile, came in at 147.3lbs with the bitter rivals avoiding huge fines.

The experienced fighters agreed that they would pay a fine of £100,000 for every pound that they were over the limit.

It came after both Khan and Brook denied making offensive comments at a fiery final press conference on Thursday.

After Khan questioned Brook's usage of the term 'poppadom chin' when speaking about the Bolton fighter, Brook said: "He's obviously going down the line of me being racist. Most of my close friends are Asian. The original Amir Khan was going to be in my corner so he's obviously wanting to get the people thinking I'm racist but I'm absolutely not.

"All I was saying was how fragile the poppadom is and his chin is brittle like that. Looking back now I regret it. There's nothing behind it."

Khan snapped back: "His excuse was not good enough. It should not be said. Things like that should not be said. This is a sport and we have to respect each other.

"It's so sad that, that he had to come out with a comment like that.

"I respected him as a fighter...that's gone out the window now. I thought maybe after the fight we could be friends, I don't want to be his friend."
