Amir Khan's words come back to haunt him after Kell Brook stoppage

Kell Brook's stellar performance in the ring against Amir Khan left the Bolton native seeing his previous words come back to haunt him.

The fiercely-anticipated grudge match finally came to a head on Saturday evening, with the two veterans going toe-to-toe in front of a packed-out crowd at the Manchester Arena.

Brook was seen as the slight favourite heading into the fight but it was a difficult one to call, with both coming into the bout on the back of lengthy absences from the ring.

And Khan clearly didn't think Brook had what it took ahead of the fight, outlining his belief that he couldn't take hits.

"I don't think Kell has a chin or can take a good shot. I think his punch resistance is gone, literally gone. I honestly believe he is doing this fight just for that payday," he said earlier this week.

However, that certainly wasn't the case when the pair got into the ring as Brook relentlessly pushed for victory, taking hits on the chin as he went.

It was Brook who handed out the most punishment, using his reflexes to dodge Khan's quick hands - though he was caught on a number of occasions.

Khan, on the other hand, took some huge hits and did show plenty of chin to keep going, having faced significant punishment in each of the six rounds.

It finally came to an end in the sixth round, however, with Khan looking shaky at the start of the round and inviting pressure from Brook.

In the end, the referee brought an end to the contest with 50 seconds gone in the sixth round to crown Brook as the victor.
