It has been almost 18 years since a fresh faced teenager captured the attention of millions of Brits at the Athens Olympics.
Despite coming up just short with a silver medal, 17-year-old Amir Khan had made a name for himself at home and took the first step in what would become a remarkable career.
On Saturday night that run might finally come to a close as he faces off against Kell Brook at the AO Arena in Manchester.

And, while his boxing run has had its ups and downs, 'King' will no doubt go down as one of Britain's most memorable fighters.
But, while he made headlines in the ring, Bolton-born Amir also made a splash outside of it.
His relationship
Amir and wife Faryal Makhdoom have featured in the papers just as much as any other celebrity couple, if not more.
The pair tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel in May 2013 and followed it up with a huge bash in Manchester, with thousands invited.
More recently they have appeared together on BBC reality show Meet the Khans: Big in Bolton, where Faryal detailed her work in fashion and influencing.
But, in 2017 the pair - who have two daughters and a son together - went through a very public split following a bitter exchange of words on social media while he was away in Dubai.
Amir even announced the break up in a terse tweet, which simply said: "So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best.”
However, the pair could not be kept apart and in 2018 they put their marriage back on track.
Appearing on Loose Women, boxing champ Amir put the split down to 'a lack of communication' and things seem to have been running smoothly ever since.
Big money
Boxing is all about making money, especially for those fighters at the top of their game.
There is a reported £5m on offer for Amir when he takes on Kell Brook this weekend and it is only the latest in a string of high-value bouts.

The Bolton boxer has been no stranger to big spending and last year he splashed £30,000 on a Rolex watch for his infant son.
He also invested upwards of £11.5m into a Bolton town centre wedding venue, which has remained unfinished for years.
Failed blackmail plot
One of the more bizarre incidents Amir has dealt with came about in 2017.
The details were revealed when Hamza Din a complete stranger to the boxing champ, appeared in court.
It transpired that Din had sent Amir's management company an e-mail claiming he had a video recording of the fighter and ‘a girl’ together in a hotel room in Newcastle.
He demanded money and said he would release the clip to the media unless they ‘matched the price’ it could fetch, Bolton Crown Court was told.
Din claimed the clip was '100 percent' but this turned out to be untrue, as the court heard the video never existed.
Din, who had a gambling problem, never specified an amount of money in exchange for the clip and his own lawyer, Simon Myerson QC, called the blackmail attempt ‘spectacularly inept’.
Judge Richard Gioserano sentenced Din to 16 months in prison, suspended for two years and also imposed a mental health treatment requirement to the sentence.
TV stardom
On top of his fights, Amir has also found his way onto television in a number of reality roles.
Perhaps most famous is his appearance on ITVs I'm a Celebrity.
In 2017, the Bolton boxer appeared alongside other celebs in the Australian jungle.
Voted out just before the show's Grand Final, Amir found his way into 'I'm a Celeb' folklore with strawberry-gate, which saw him and comedian Iain Lee snaffling a box of strawberries together rather than sharing them with other contestants.
More recently, Amir and Faryal filmed BBC show Big in Bolton, which saw cameras follow the pair for a glimpse into their life.
And, in 2007 he was involved in a TV programme for Channel 4 called Amir Khan's Angry Young Men.
It involved troubled young men and aimed to use the disciplines of boxing, coupled with faith and family values, to help re-focus their lives and steer them away from problems in the future.
Charity
Amir is also involved in a number of charitable ventures and has supported several causes through the years.
In 2004, he worked to raise money for victims of the Indian Ocean Tsunami and the following year he helped to distribute food to survivors of the Kashmir earthquake.
His charitable organisation The Amir Khan Foundation, regularly takes up projects around the world.
And, last year he was at the forefront of British efforts to help people in India, where the coronavirus had begun to hit hard and hospitals were being overwhelmed.
