Amazon slashes the price of 'game changer' Ninja air fryer rival with perfect five-star rating in pre-Prime day sale

Amazon has slashed the price of one of its most popular air fryers which is said to rival Ninja ahead of Prime Day. Amazon Prime Day is set to officially run on July 11-12 in 2023, but the online retailer has already slashed the price of some of its most popular items - including air fryers that rival Ninja.

The Tower T17039 Xpress Pro 5-in-1 Digital Air Fryer usually costs £119.99. But for a limited time it has been reduced to a more purse-friendly price of £89.99 in the Amazon Prime Day sale - making it cheaper than it is at Argos, where it's currently £90.

The budget air fryer comes in black and has an 11-litre capacity and 2000 watts of power. The slightly snazzier-looking black and rose gold version of the same fryer is down by 24 per cent from £129.99 to £99.99.

In the same range you can also get the Tower T17038 Xpress 5-in-1 Manual Air Fryer which is similar but has dials on the top rather than a digital control panel. Its price has been slashed by 32 per cent from £129.99 to £89.99.

The manual version had gone out of stock when we just checked so we'll focus on the digital option which we think is a bit more up-to-date anyway. The Ninja air fryer rival is a Stainless steel black design with a silver-grey trim, or black with a rose-gold trim.

It has a huge 11-litre capacity, while it has an integrated digital control panel for ease of use. The budget Amazon air fryer has an automatic switch-off function to ensure your food won't overcook or burn, while its overheat protection will keep it in good nick.

Amazon's description of the product says it uses Vortx air frying technology that's exclusive to Tower air fryers. This rapidly circulates hot air around food, cooking up to 30 per cent faster than a conventional oven. Vortx also cooks food with little or no oil, making it much healthier too.

So you could save up to 70 per cent on your energy use compared with a standard oven, with potential savings of £198 a year. You can cook chips in 15 minutes and sausages in under 20 minutes.

The air fryer resembles a miniature version of a conventional oven. It has one interior compartment that can be used like a rotisserie or stacked with metal shelves to cook multiple foods at the same time and make a complete meal. For the rotisserie function, there are spit and handle accessories to roast a whole chicken in less than an hour, turning it as it cooks.

The gadget comes with a standard one-year guarantee and chance to add a two-year extension if you register it online.

To get going, just plug it in at the wall and away you go. Instruction booklets give a guide on how long to cook different types of food and you can open the door or drawers during cooking to check things or to turn or shake foods so they cook evenly. Unlike deep fat fryers, you don't have to pour in cooking oil - though for some items (such as if you are roasting vegetables) it's recommended to brush with a little oil first as you would in a regular oven.

Amazon's budget £89.99 Tower T17039 Xpress Pro 5-in-1 Digital Air Fryer has racked up a perfect five star rating, and has more than 13,000 reviews. Shoppers have been impressed by how quickly it cooks food, with many saying they've not used an oven since buying it.

One five-star reviewer wrote: "I brought this a month ago and glad I did has changed the way we cook. Not used the oven once. Quick and easy to use. For whole chickens to burger and chips it's great."

A second said: "This Tower air fryer is one of the best kitchen appliance we have ever bought hardly used our electric oven since this purchase. I don't think we would attempt to cook a Sunday roast but for anything else it's a godsend. I would certainly recommend buying this product."

"Best air fryer I've ever bought so bought my son and daughter one," wrote another impressed Amazon customer. Somebody else said: "I recommend air frying as not used the main oven since purchasing this air Fryer 10 out of 10."

If you want to consider other brands, there is also a big discount on the Ninja Foodi AF300UK Dual Zone Digital Air Fryer which has a 7.6 litre capacity with two cooking baskets. It's down in price on Amazon by 23 per cent from £219.99 to £169.99.

You can shop all of Amazon's early Prime Day deals here. Items such as Ring Doorbells, robot vacuum cleaners and electric toothbrushes have all been heavily discounted ahead of the official Amazon Prime Day dates, which fall on July 11 and July 12 2023.
