Hundreds of Amazon shoppers are leaving top reviews of a fan that costs less than £20 as a heatwave hits the UK.
Electric fans can be a great way to keep cool amid warm spells, but there can be some pitfalls. The devices can be expensive, as well as too big for some homes, and can often make a bit of a racket.
The Russell Hobbs 12" lightweight fan, though, is said to be powerful but quiet. It has an average rating of 4.4 out of a possible five stars on Amazon.

The product is billed as offering: "Effective cooling with a portable design" as well as three speed settings to "ensure you stay comfortably cool".
It has a 90-degree oscillation to cool in "multiple directions" and "ensure full coverage and even distribution". It is also said to be straightforward to use and to control, with a "safe and simple" setup".
Writing a five-star review, one happy customer said: "Putting the fan together was a really simple easy job, no screws needed which was great. The fan is not too heavy and the fan is super quiet"
A second said: "This has to be the best fan I have ever purchased. It's so quiet and powerful enough just in the first setting, would definitely recommend", while a third added: "Excellent fan for the price. It’s not too big neither too tiny. Works well. For really hot days you can use it in its maximum velocity and it keeps the room fresh".
Alternative fans are also available from other retailers, with Wilko selling a tower fan for £44. John Lewis also has a 30in fan available for £50.
