A self-employed driver who delivers parcels for Amazon has complained about working conditions during record temperatures.
The Liverpool man, who asked not be named, said that he was based at Amazon's Kirkby depot. The driver claimed that Amazon had not put in enough measures in place to protect drivers during the current heatwave, which has seen temperatures exceed 30C.
A spokesperson for the online giant told the ECHO that they had put a number of measures in place to help drivers during the current heatwave, including reducing route distances. The Liverpool man said that the stop-start nature of the delivery rounds prevented the air conditioning from building up inside the van.
