One of Edinburgh's busiest spots were surrounded by actors and films crews today as filming in the city began for a brand-new Amazon TV series.
Anansi Boys, the six-part drama that has been adapted from the novel by Neil Gaiman, follows the story of the spider-god Anansi's two sons.
Filming and production for the show had been in the works for many years, with the original plan for the series in 2014 instead being tied in with American Gods, an adaptation by Starz.

Now, filming is well underway for the Amazon show, with the capital already being used by the likes of David Tennant and Michael Sheen, who starred in Good Omens, also an Amazon production based on a similar theme.
Crews and extras were present on Torphichen and Canning Street on Monday, March 14, the back street between Shandwick Place and Haymarket.
Also present were dozens of film crew, huge cameras and equipment and a certain excitement in the air.
As locals stopped to look on and catch a glimpse of some of the famous faces, we were also present to get some shots of the filming process and to get some insight into how much preparation and time goes into what looks like a simple scene.
Amongst those starring in the series are Delroy Lindo, Malachi Kirby, Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn and Lourdes Faberes.
Of those, Lindo is perhaps the standout name, as featuring in all six episodes of the show, he plays Anansi. Also appearing in movies such as Malcom X, Get Shorty and Da 5 Bloods, Lindo has certainly had a stellar acting career to date.
Malachi Kirby, who has starred in shows such as Black Mirror and the highly rated film I am Kunta, based on the story of Kunta Kinte, an African sold to slavery in America, was present in Edinburgh for the first day of filming.
With the street packed with extras in the show that were being filmed as if it was every day life, the team took several attempts to perfect people simply walking down a quiet street.
With several extras being released by the crew in groups or one-by-one to walk along the street either having a conversation or pretending to be on the phone, it showed some real insight into the preparation and perfection that is required to film a hit TV show.
Although Edinburgh was the location in which the filming was taking place, the scene was set in London.
The crew are also staying in the capital for another day of filming on Tuesday, March 15.
