Amanda Owen has opened up on her "chaotic" home life and the many challenges living in remote part of Yorkshire brings but says she finds ''peace in the countryside''.
The Yorkshire Shepherdess, 47, who recently announced her marriage to husband Clive had ended after 21 years, has opened up about her family life with nine children and the numerous animals she has to tend to.
Appearing at The Game Fair alongside TV Chef James Martin, she explained: "You can lose yourself and distance yourself from everyone and everything.
"Once I go out of that door to work it is back to basics."
And with six children still at school, one at University and one working as an apprentice, there's plenty to do on the farm but they all pitch it to get things done.
Amanda went on: "My home life is busy and chaotic, but my work life is solitary.
"Too much of each one is not good, but living in a remote place gives me peace and quiet," she continued in the chat.
But Amanda admitted the biggest challenges with remote living is the weather, which has left the family faced with frozen pipes, no mobile phone signal and power cuts.
Amanda recalled how she was unable to call a vet while her mare was having a foal during a power cut which left her feeling "vulnerable", but added that she found an "inner strength" to be able to deal with emergencies at Ravenseat.
Luckily, Maple the foal was born without a hitch and she shared the successful delivery of the horse with social media followers.
Amanda, who has penned a Sunday Times bestseller, said she's still got "childlike excitement" for nature — something which has clearly rubbed off on her offspring who spend much of their time out doors when not at school or studying.
The mum-of-nine said her "downtime would be wild swimming or paddleboarding" and added: "I never see anyone, it’s just me and nature.
"I am now 47, but I still have a childlike excitement every time I swim," she added.
Amanda and Clive announced their decision to split earlier this month in a joint statement.
The pair added how they continue to work together to co-parent their kids and manage Ravenseat and said in a statement "our number one priority is he happiness and well-being of our children."
