Amad names four Manchester United figures he has been in contact with during Sunderland loan

Manchester United youngster Amad has admitted that he has remained in contact with technical director Darren Fletcher throughout his loan spell at Championship side Sunderland.

The winger joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal last August and has developed at a rate of knots, scoring 12 goals and grabbing four assists in 38 appearances. He was nominated for the Championship Young Player of the Season award at last Sunday's annual EFL Awards in London but was pipped to the gong by Bristol City ace Alex Scott.

However, Amad could conclude his loan spell at Sunderland by celebrating an ever greater prize: promotion. The club currently occupies a play-off place with just two games of the season remaining, meaning they could still extend their campaign beyond May 8.

But regardless of what happens between now and the end of the campaign, Amad has flourished at the Stadium of Light, so much so that many Sunderland supporters are not prepared to say goodbye to him. It is understood that United boss Erik ten Hag is prepared to include him in his plans next season, meaning he could have a key part to play at Old Trafford during 2023/24.

And the winger has now admitted that Fletcher often contacts him, particularly when he has scored or produced an eye-catching performance. Furthermore, Amad has also confirmed that he regularly speaks with three first-team players.

"I speak with Darren Fletcher," Amad told Inside United. "And he sometimes sends me messages when I play well and score. He likes to congratulate me.

"In terms of the players, I regularly talk with Anthony Elanga, Bruno Fernandes and sometimes Alejandro Garnacho. I watch every United game, when Sunderland are not playing at the same time.

"I really liked the game with Barcelona. It was a big game and I supported United. It was a really good victory for United."

Amad's progress during his time at Sunderland this season has meant that United's fans have regularly been notified of his development.

The winger added: "They [United's fans] really support me. Some fans send me messages to give me confidence. I hope to repay their confidence next season."
