Amad has sent an emotional farewell message to Sunderland fans after his loan spell on Wearside ended following last night's Championship play-off defeat. The Black Cats' season is over after they lost 2-0 against Luton Town in their semi-final second leg at Kenilworth Road, meaning they lost the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
Amad ended the season as Sunderland's 14-goal top scorer as the club finished sixth in the second tier and reached the play-offs, and his talent has lit up the Championship and established him as a firm favourite with the fans. But the Ivory Coast international Amad will now return to Manchester United, where he is likely to be part of Erik ten Hag's squad in pre-season and possibly for next season's Premier League campaign.
Amad told supporters on social media that he would 'support the club for the rest of his life'. And he went on to tweet: 'hi guys, i know you are sad, we all are. a group of young guys who fought until the last minute, I can only be proud to have been part of this team.

If Amad does not stay with the Red Devils next season he is likely to go out on loan again and, while Sunderland would dearly love to bring him back to Wearside, it seems almost certain that he would be sent to a top tier club either in England or in one of the leading European leagues.
