Alzheimer's: Red flag symptom when driving could be sign of disease

People have been warned of a little known sign of Alzheimer’s disease that they may experience while driving. Many families around the UK have been affected by a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s and it has been in the headlines following the sad news that Fiona Phillips has been diagnosed with the early onset of the disease, The Mirror reports.

The disease is one of the most common types of dementia and, the earlier it is diagnosed, the better the support options are for the patient. And there are some signs which are to be expected and others that may be surprising.

Alzheimer’s is a brain disease that causes slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills. For people getting behind the wheel of a car, a symptom of the disease is for them having difficulty in remembering the way to a familiar location.
