Alvaro Morata offers new transfer update amid latest Arsenal links: ‘I have quite a few options’

Alvaro Morata has offered an update on his future amid transfer links to Arsenal.

The former Chelsea striker is on the lookout for a new club this summer, with Juventus declining their option to sign him permanently again following a two-year spell on loan from Atletico Madrid in LaLiga.

Morata has once again been mentioned in connection with a possible return to English football with Arsenal, who are hunting for high-profile attacking reinforcements after missing out on Champions League qualification to rivals Tottenham in agonising fashion on the final day of the season.

While the rejuvenated Eddie Nketiah has performed a U-turn to agree an improved extension to stay with the Gunners for the long-term, Alexandre Lacazette is expected to rejoin former club Lyon when his contract expires this month.

Arsenal are believed to have made Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus their top attacking target for the summer window, while they have also been linked with the likes of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Everton duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, having allowed former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona for nothing in January.

There have also been renewed links with Morata, which were also a familiar fixture during previous transfer windows.

The 29-year-old was inevitably quizzed over his potential next move after scoring for Spain in their 1-1 Nations League draw with local rivals Portugal in Seville on Thursday night.

“I have quite a few options. It’s not up to me, I can’t do anything about it,” Morata told Relevo.

“My wife and children will follow me wherever I need to go. I do have preferences and options, but I want to go where the club love me the most and value me.”
