'Also the fact' - Kaka makes Liverpool claim before Champions League final v Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid midfielder Kaka believes the Champions League final between the Spanish giants and Liverpool has all the makings for a 'special game' in Paris.

Kaka knows Liverpool well after featuring against them, when they were managed by Rafa Benitez, in two Champions League finals. The Brazilian played a starring role in the first half in Istanbul in 2005 but the Reds famously came back to draw level at 3-3 before winning on penalties. However, the 2007 final went the way of Kaka and AC Milan, who were managed by former Everton boss and now Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The match between Real Madrid, the newly crowned La Liga champions, and Liverpool, who are battling for the Premier League, is set to be a classic encounter between two of the biggest and most successful clubs in European competition.

And Kaka said: "What a great season Real Madrid is having. Carlo Ancelotti is there as well, I'm very happy with this year. Now we will see in Paris what's going to happen, but I hope Real Madrid can win another final. The Champions League is always a special tournament. Real Madrid this year have been the underdogs, but they are in the final and they are fighting for the 14th.

"Liverpool is playing really, really well. They have been playing together for many, many years. They have a lot of good players that can decide the game in every moment. The game will be really amazing and also the fact that they lost the last final against Real Madrid. There is a few ingredients for this final that makes for a special game."

The 'last final' Kaka refers to was the 2018 Champions League showpiece in Kiev when Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah off injured and goalkeeper Loris Karius experiencing a dreadful night, went down 3-1 to Madrid.
