Almost six in 10 people believe corruption is still widespread in Ireland with one in seven Irish adults claiming they are personally affected by the problem in their daily life, according to the findings of a new report by the European Commission.
The Eurobarometer poll also reveals that Irish people believe corruption is unacceptable to a greater degree than any of their European counterparts.
It shows 78% of Irish adults claimed corruption was unacceptable compared to the EU average of 63% with the lowest rate recorded in Latvia at just 30%.
