A West Australian man has been charged with 64 offences relating to the alleged rape and sexual assault of women he met on online dating apps.

The 23-year-old is alleged to have abused nine women between 2016 and 2023, starting when he was a teenager.

Detectives raided the man's home in Treeby, in Perth's southern suburbs, where they seized several cameras, phones, computers and hard drives, with one phone containing over 232,000 images and 9,300 videos.

Police allege the seizure of those devices has identified further potential victims.

The man will appear in court tomorrow morning, with the 64 charges including:

  • 12 counts of aggravated sexual penetration without consent
  • Nine counts of acts to endanger life, health or safety
  • Six counts of aggravated assault causing bodily harm
  • Five counts of aggravated common assault
  • Five counts of aggravated stalking
  • Five counts of aggravated indecent assault
  • One count of sexual penetration without consent.

Other charges include stealing, burglary, trespassing and criminal damage.

Alleged abuse 'evil': Col Blanch

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said they were extremely serious allegations, adding he believed there were more potential victims out there.

"We've found a significant amount of images and videos on devices, and the special crime team is currently working through those images to see if we can identify more victims," he said.

"So it might turn out to be much larger than what it currently is.

"If any person has been involved in a relationship, where they've been assaulted in any way, shape, or form online, please report it to police.

"We are ready and we will take action as soon as they call."

Commissioner Blanch called the alleged acts "evil" and warned people using online dating apps to put a protection plan in place.

"There are evil men out there on social media platforms looking for people to attack. That is a reality," he said.

"People should be able to date and do it freely and happily, but there are people in this world who are out there to do the wrong thing."
