All you need to know about £1.4m A77 resurfacing scheme kicking off this month

The start of the summer holidays will bring disruption on the A77 as a £1.4 million roadworks project kicks off in East Ayrshire.

Essential resurfacing will take place on the key route northbound as two maintenance schemes swing into action.

The stretches between Bellfield Interchange and Grassyards Junction then Grassyards Junction and 150 metres north of the Borland overbridge will be in the spotlight from Monday, June 27 until Friday, July 15.

Overnight closures and weekend contraflows are planned in the programme of works but roads chiefs say the 14,000 vehicles which use the A77 every day will benefit.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout the duration of the works.

A spokesperson for Amey, who are carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the network management contract for the south-west trunk road unit, said: "These schemes will improve the condition of the carriageway and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

"The combination of two maintenance schemes will allow the works to take place as efficiently as possible, minimising disruption for travellers, businesses, and residents."

The programme of works is as follows...

Monday, June 27 to Thursday, June 30: Total overnight closures of the northbound A77 at this location between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. A signed diversion route will be in operation.

Friday, July 1 to Monday, July 4: A weekend contraflow system will be in place at this location from 8pm on Friday night until 6am on Monday morning. Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for any journeys.

Monday, July 4 to Thursday, July 7: Total overnight closures of the northbound A77 at this location between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. A signed diversion route will be in operation.

Friday, July 8 to Monday, July 11: A weekend contraflow system will be in place at this location from 8pm on Friday night until 6am on Monday morning. Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for any journeys.

Monday, July 11 to Thursday, July 14: Total overnight closures of the northbound A77 at this location between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night. A signed diversion route will be in operation.
