A total of 12 schools in Wirral were inspected by Ofsted this year - with a range of results.
This included three secondary schools and nine primary schools. Only one, Upton Hall School, was rated outstanding joining 28 schools in Wirral with such a high rating.
Ofsted’s 2022 to 2027 Strategy sets out the education watchdog's priorities as working to 'help education recover and improve and raise standards in schools and social care' through school inspections.

Wirral Council also aims to improve school standards as it launched a new ratings system in September as part of its school improvement strategy. This aims to “raise aspirations and improve outcomes for all children and young people in Wirral.”
Nine schools were given the lowest possible rating, assessed by Wirral Council as having limited good leadership “at all levels,” having “serious weaknesses” and “serious financial concerns.”
A mixture of academies, community and special schools were among those inspected. Details correct as of December 19 2022.
