All the planned M4 closures in Newport and Cardiff from February 21

A number of areas will be impacted by planned road closures around the M4 this week.

A number of overnight closures across this week beginning Monday, February 21 will affect motorists in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea.

The closures are in addition to the disruption caused by Storm Franklin, as well as any aftermath from Storm Eunice on Friday.

Here are all the planned closures on the M4 and how long each road will be closed for.

  • M4 westbound, junction 42-43
    The entry slip road to the westbound carriageway at junction 42 Earswood and the exit slip road at junction 43 Llandarcy will be closed between 8pm and 6am this week to allow clearance work to take place. Closures began on Sunday, February 20 and end on Friday, February 25.
  • M4 westbound, junction 37-38
    The exit slip road of the westbound M4 at junction 38 Margam will be closed at 8pm on Monday, February 21 due to electrical work. It will reopen at 5am on Tuesday.
  • M4 westbound, junction 25A
    The exit slip road will be closed at junction 25A Grove Park westbound to allow surveys to take place. The closures will take place between 8pm and 5am on Monday and Tuesday night, reopening on Wednesday morning at 5am.
  • M4 eastbound, junction 25-24
    Overnight closures will take place at junction 24 Coldra westbound from Monday night through to Saturday morning due to maintenance work. The exit slip road will be closed between 8pm and 6am each day.
  • M4 westbound, junction 23
    Overnight closures will allow maintenance work to take place at junction 23 Rogiet westbound between Monday night and Friday morning. The road will shut between 9pm and 6am each evening.
  • M4 junction 49
    The A48 eastbound from Cross Hands to the M4 junction 49 Pont Abraham has been closed each night between 7pm and 3am since February 14 to facilitate maintenance work. This will continue until 3am on Sunday, February 27 when the road will fully reopen.
