All Nottingham Forest's 21 summer signings as Premier League transfer record broken

Nottingham Forest confirmed their 21st and final signing of the summer transfer window as Loic Bade made the season-long loan switch to The City Ground from Rennes.

The 22-year-old became their third deadline day addition after Willy Boly and Josh Bowler arrived from Wolves and Blackpool respectively.

However, Bowler and fellow new signing Hwang Ui-jo have joined Olympiacos on loan, while talented midfielder Brandon Aguilera has joined Guanacasteca until January.

The other 18 new arrivals will be part of the Forest first-team squad as Steve Cooper looks to steer the Reds to safety after returning to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years. After losing a number of players from their promoted-winning team at the end of last season, Forest needed to bolster their squad.

They have lost 27 players in total, including cult hero goalkeeper Brice Samba, who saved three penalties in the shootout win over Sheffield United in the play-offs. He was replaced by Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson, who joined on a season-long loan move, with Wayne Hennessey also signing as back-up.

Moussa Niakhate became their first defensive acquisition but he suffered a long-term injury in the 1-0 win over West Ham United last month. This forced Cooper to sign 31-year-old Boly, with Giulian Biancone, Cheikhou Kouyate and Bade bolstering their centre-back options.

With Forest adopting a 3-4-3 formation, the wing-backs are so important and Cooper ensured he would adequately replace Djed Spence with Neco Williams in a £17m deal from Liverpool. Meanwhile, on the left flank, new signings Harry Toffolo and Renan Lodi are expected to battle for a first-team spot, with Omar Richards out injured.

In midfield, the failure to secure the permanent services of James Garner meant Cooper needed to bolster that position. Three new central midfielders have entered the building with Remo Freuler, Orel Mangala, Lewis O'Brien all joining the club, with Kouyate also more than capable to play in that position.

Arguably the most surprising signing of the window came when Jesse Lingard chose to join Forest over West Ham after leaving Man Utd in June. Morgan Gibbs-White became their record signing after arriving from Wolves for a fee that could rise to £44.5m, while Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis will also bolster the forward line.

It means that Forest have surpassed the previous British record of 19 signings, held jointly by Dundee United in the summer of 2000 and Livingston in 2001. The English record was previously held by Crystal Palace in the summer of 2013, with 17 signings. The Eagles added another five players to their squad in the winter transfer window to take their total for that season to 22.

Here are the 21 new signings : Morgan Gibbs-White, Emmanuel Dennis, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, Orel Mangala, Remo Freuler, Moussa Niakhaté, Omar Richards, Brandon Aguilera, Lewis O'Brien, Giulian Biancone, Harry Toffolo, Hwang Ui-jo, Cheikhou Kouyaté, Jesse Lingard, Wayne Hennessey, Dean Henderson, Renan Lodi, Josh Bowler, Willy Boly, Loic Bade
