Alison Hammond says she 'should have won' as Ant and Dec win best presenter gong at NTAs again

Alison Hammond joked that she "should have won" after Ant and Dec scooped the Best Presenter prize at the National Television Awards again. The presenting duo won the accolade for an unbelievable 21st consecutive time during the glitzy ceremony at the OVO Arena Wembley in London.

Hammond seemed in good spirits as she celebrated the success of This Morning, which she co-hosts, after it won in the Best Daytime category. After an emotional Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby thanked viewers for their support, they asked her to say a few words.

The ex-Big Brother contestant said she was “grateful” for this award, but that she felt she should have won in the TV presenter category instead of Ant and Dec. The I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! presenters edged out Hammond, Bradley Walsh and Graham Norton to the prize.

Hammond said: “I ain’t going to lie but we all know I should have won one of these as well. Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legends that are Ant and Dec are amazing, but let’s be honest, I should have won one but This Morning won one anyways.”

She laughed loudly as she spoke, suggesting she is not too upset about the result in the Best Presenter category. But some fans on social media were furious on her behalf, also agreeing that she should have won.

Bricklyrspice tweeted: "How dare they overlook are Alison like that." While Legars_92 said: "Justice for Alison Hammond."

Alexr_241 wrote: "Alison Hammond winning would have been a breathe of fresh air." And Elliot_gonzalez added: "Dame Alison Hammond was robbed. This should have been her year.."
