Alison Hammond has surprised Harrison Ford with a birthday cake, and he was left rather unimpressed.
Back in 2017, the This Morning presenter had viewers in stitches when she interviewed the Hollywood icon alongside Ryan Gosling about their film Blade Runner: 2049, revealing to the pair that she hadn’t actually watched the original movie prior to the interview.
Fast forward five years, and the 47-year-old TV personality took it upon herself to surprise Harrison with an Indiana Jones themed birthday cake yesterday for his milestone 80th birthday, which was back in July.
But the TV presenter’s gesture did not garner the response that she might have hoped, as viewers dubbed the moment a ‘train crash’.
Alison and Harrison met once again on Monday’s instalment of the ITV chat show, where the Indiana Jones star awkwardly overlooked the moment the birthday cake was presented to him.
Speaking over video call, Alison interviewed Harrison from her Birmingham home whilst he was in Las Vegas.
She said to the superstar: “'This year saw you turn 80 and I'm so, so sorry I missed your birthday. I'm sorry I didn't send you a present. I do apologise.”
“However, don’t worry,” Alison continued. “I did get you a cake. Check this out. I whipped this together. There is a whip on it as well, a scorpion, Harrison, 80.
“I can't believe you turned 80 this year.”
But Harrison didn’t even appear to bat an eyelid at the impressive movie-themed cake, while Alison continued to ask how he celebrated the big day.
He replied: “I'm trying to ignore it.”
Swiftly changing the subject, Alison quipped that Harrison led the pair ‘astray’ in their infamous throwback interview.
She said: “Now, last time we met, well frankly, we should be ashamed of ourselves…There was Ryan Gosling. We were drinking a lot of whiskey.”
But Harrison instead argued: “That was not me. You started it! I remember very well. I remember! But it's not going to happen again.”
Alison agreed, adding: “I did start it… but you finished it.”
Recalling their previous encounter which happened all those years ago, Alison added: “We've got to talk about the fact that last time I interviewed you, it was with Ryan Gosling.
“And he wouldn't stop going on about the fact that you punched him in the face... He's a bit of a cry baby as far as I'm concerned!”, to which Harrison said: “Yeah!”
Speaking about his new film, 1923, Harrison talked about working alongside his co-star Dame Helen Mirren.
“Helen and I played husband and wife 40 years ago in the Mosquito Coast.
“We both have enjoyed both scenes in which our married life is featured and you see in the first episode, how tough she is. Fantastic.”
He added: “She goes for it and it's great fun to work with her.”
