A new study has claimed that aliens have not bothered contacting Earth yet because they've received no signs of intelligent life. The study's author, Amri Wandel, said they weren't getting the signals expected and therefore had not come close to our home planet.
In putting forward the theory, Mr Wandel, an astrophysicist at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, did suggest that things might change. His idea is based on the fact that humans have only been sending out signals that can be detected from space since around 1930, so barely enough time has passed for other potential life forms to receive and respond to them.
Given that signals have only been sending for around 90 years, only stars within 50 light-years would have had any chance to respond to them, reports the Mirror. However, something called A Beacon in the Galaxy message could be fired into space to be received and understood by an alien civilisation in the future. The researcher's preprint paper has just been published to the arXiv database.
