Alicia Keys stuns commuters with surprise performance at St Pancras International train station

Alicia Keys brightened the commute of train passengers by giving a surprise performance at London’s St Pancras International.

The nine-time Grammy Award-winning musician and producer performed some of her biggest hits including Empire State of Mind, If I Ain’t Got You and No One, plus her latest single, Lifeline, which is the first release from soundtrack of the upcoming film The Color Purple.New York native Keys’ appearance was in honour of the release of The Diary of Alicia Keys 20, a special edition of her multi-platinum selling, chart-topping sophomore album, which originally debuted in 2003.

Videos captured on Monday (December 11) show Keys swarmed by a crowd who had gathered as she tickled the ivories of the famous piano donated to the station by Sir Elton John.

Uploading a video to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, one lucky person who witnessed it for themselves penned: “So Alicia Keys just rocked up at St Pancras train station and played some of her biggest hits. Mad.”

“Imagine getting in a lift at St Pancras and seeing Alicia Keys at the piano,” wrote another, followed by a clip of them descending into the station to see the star sat playing the instrument.

The intimate and once-in-a-lifetime performance came the day after she took to the stage at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball with Barclaycard and wowed a crowd of more than 20,000 at the London O2 Arena.

True to her track Girl On Fire, it was announced last week that Hell’s Kitchen, Keys’ original stage musical, will make its Broadway premiere next spring.
