The Road Nobody Takes Because the Highway Is Faster
The coast road from Alibaug to Dapoli is not a shortcut. It is the opposite of a shortcut. Where the NH-66 bypass gets you to Dapoli in roughly three and a half hours from Alibaug, the coastal route, threading through Murud, Shrivardhan, Harnai and Anjarle, takes anywhere from six to nine hours depending on ferry wait times, tide windows, and how long you sit at any one beach before convincing yourself to leave. If you are measuring by kilometres, the two routes are not so different. If you are measuring by what you see, they are not the same journey at all.
