Alfredo Morelos sent a Rangers redemption message after he netted his first goal since returning to the fold.
The Colombian finds himself behind Antonio Colak in the Ibrox pecking order after being dropped last month due to concerns over his attitude and fitness. Colak has responded by banging in the goals and continued his red hot form with the opening two goals in the Gers’ convincing 4-0 victory over Hearts at Tynecastle.
The Croat’s efforts had Gio van Bronckhorst’s men well in control before Cammy Devlin was shown a straight red card in the first half for a nasty challenge on Rabbi Matondo. However, Morelos continued his excellent scoring record off the bench, replacing Colak and adding a third to remove any doubt about the outcome in Gorgie. Ryan Kent added a late fourth to add some gloss to the scoreline ahead of the Light Blues’ trip to Anfield in midweek.
And El Bufalo had a message for those watching on after he found the net following a difficult spell personally for the striker. He tweeted a series of celebration images following his Tynecastle strike. And he captioned it with a message that illustrated that it was worth the wait after having to fight his way back into Van Bronckhorst’s good books.
He tweeted: “Trust yourself to achieve your goals, the wait can be long, but every effort has its reward.”
Colak will almost certainly start against Liverpool next week after bagging a brace. But Morelos has shown that he’s not about to give up his spot without a fight and the competition between the two can only be of benefit to Rangers as the season goes, should Morelos continue his redemption.
